Hostile Takeovers

Read 1 John 4.Isaiah 61

"But whether silent or hidden, he's there, ruling, so that those who hate God won't take over and ruin people's lives." Job 34:30 MSG

The corporate world is filled with hostile takeovers.  When one individual or group of investors buys enough stock to gain control or tenders an offer to merge or buy out a business, it is considered a hostile takeover by those who oppose the takeover.

We all too often see the same thing happening in many local churches or denominational bodies.  Differing agendas and opinions cause a lot of division and sometimes splits at every level of church polity. We need to pray for wisdom and spiritual discernment in times of disagreement.

Although there is great rejoicing in heaven when we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the forces of evil consider this a hostile takeover and will do everything in their power to prevent it and then to discourage it when it happens.

The deceiver of our souls knows our every weakness and will do anything and everything imaginable to bring us back into bondage.

God understands and forewarns us of these attacks of evil that will try to separate us from His love.

Best of all, He has given us the strength and power of the Holy Spirit and a full set of armor to resist whatever attacks come our way.

When we stay close to God we will be protected by the shield of faith, sword of the Word, belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, helmet of our salvation, and the grace to stand firm in the all surpassing peace of the Lord.

God is on our side! The war for our hearts and souls has been won!  Even though we may lose an occasional battle we know that God can even work our bad for His good as He conforms us into the image of Christ.

Father, give me Your strength to resist the hostile takeover attempts that come into my life.  In Jesus' name.  Amen

"He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed."Isaiah 61:1b

"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."1 John 4:4
